If you are a resident of Downe Township and are at least 50 years of
age,
consider joining and sharing your ideas. Dues for 2011 will remain
at $5
per member per year. For more information, call the Senior Center at 447-3039.

The
next meeting of the Downe Township Seniors will be Friday, February 10th,
at the Senior Center, 288 Main Street (Rte 553), in Newport. The meeting
will start at 10 AM. At approximately 11 AM, local biologist, Susan
Ford, will present a slide presentation "Oysters, Oyster men, &
Oyster Scientists - Their Lives Together in South Jersey".
Refreshments will be served after the presentation.
An
Outreach Program representative from the Cumberland County Office on Aging
& Disabled is also scheduled to be at the Center at 11:30 AM to answer
questions about beneficial programs available to Seniors and Disabled
Persons of Cumberland County.
The

at the Senior Center, 288 Main Street (Rte 553), in Newport. The meeting
will start at 10 AM. At approximately 11 AM, Dennis DeMatte,
Recycling Coordinator from the Cumberland County Improvement
Authority, will give a talk on the benefits of recycling.
Refreshments will be served after his presentation.
An

We do not have a coordinator like many other groups, so we rely on our
members for activity and programs suggestions. Annual dues are only

The
Buckshutem Country band will be performing November 21st at the
Downe Township Senior Center, 288 Main Street (Rte 553), in Newport, NJ
from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM. This event is sponsored by the
Downe Township Seniors. Township seniors; as well as Seniors
from surrounding areas are invited to attend and are requested to put on
their dancing shoes. Admission is free, but donations; as well as,
refreshment donations are welcome and greatly appreciated. |

Jean Munson of GREENLEAVES
TREE FARM will instruct a holiday centerpiece making class at the Downe
Township Senior Center, 288 Main Street (Rte 553), in Newport on
Wednesday, November 16th at 1 PM.
Cost for the class is $10
per person which covers the cost of a foam ring design dish, fresh greens,
and equipment. Participants may customize their centerpiece by
bringing their own seasonal decorations, ornaments, and optional wired
ribbon.
Those who wish to take the
class should register and pay their $10 before November 9th.
Participation is limited so please register early. Checks should be
made payable to the Downe Township Seniors and mailed to: Downe

Cumberland County Sheriff's Dept. Betty is moving to be closer
to her son, and will be missed. She was presented with a picture
album from the Seniors, and gifts from the Tuesday morning exercise
group.
